  1. The Battle of Covadonga was in 722 in Covadonga to, (for part of Muslims), invade the Iberian Peninsula. The muslim perspective of the battle is described as an offense and a dumb act. From the part of the Christians the battle was described as a divine victory and the beginning of the reconquist.

  2. The Battle of Covadonga took place around the year 722 in the mountains of Asturias.
The Asturians, led by Don Pelayo, clashed with Muslim troops from Al-Andalus.
According to tradition, the Virgin of Covadonga aided the Christians and protected Don Pelayo. For the Muslims, it was an insignificant battle against rebels, while for the Christians, it was a very important one.
It is also said that the difficult terrain made things very difficult for the Muslims.
After the battle, the Kingdom of Asturias was born.
Over time, Covadonga became the symbolic starting point of the Reconquista.

  4. The Battle of Covadonga happened around 722, in the Picos de Europa, near the Cave of Covadonga. Pelayo and a small group of Asturians hid there to fight the Muslims, who had a much bigger army. The Christian stories say it was a huge victory and the start of the Reconquiste, but the Muslim stories say it was just a tiny fight that didn’t matter. Today, people think it wasn’t a big battle, but it was important because it helped create the Kingdom of Asturias. There’s a famous legend that says the enemy’s arrows bounced off the rocks and came back at them, like the mountain was helping Pelayo.
