Napoleon Fact or Fiction?
Challenge:
Find one weird, surprising or little-known fact about Napoleon Bonaparte.
Write 2-3 sentences explaining what it is, and say whether you think it changes your opinion of him.
💡 Example:
Did you know that Napoleon was once attacked by a horde of wild rabbits during a hunting trip? His men had planned the hunt, but the rabbits, released from cages, ran toward him instead of away! It shows that even the greatest generals can’t control everything…
A surprising fact about Napoleon Bonaparte is that he wasn’t actually as short as people think. The idea that he was only about 1.50 m tall comes from a confusion between French and English units of measuremen. But in reality, he was around 1.68 m, which was average height for his time.

Here’s an odd fact: Napoleon once wrote a romantic novel titled Clisson et Eugénie when he was a young officer. It’s a semi-autobiographical love story about a failed romance between a soldier and his beloved, revealing a surprisingly sentimental and emotional side of him.

ReplyDeleteYes, Napoleon couldn't be in a room unless the door was closed.
I think it was so that no one would heard some of his plans.

ReplyDeleteDuring his coronation as Emperor in 1804, Napoleon was supposed to receive the crown from Pope Pius VII, but at the last moment, Napoleon took the crown from the Pope’s hands and placed it on his own head.
Everyone was shocked, and the Pope difn't said nothing, but the message was clear:
“No one crowns me; I crown myself.” 😎
