The challenge is about art...

-Date of construction and place where it's located.

-Style of art and main characteristics.

  1. The Convent of San Marcos in León, which originated in the 12th century as a pilgrims' hospital, is Renaissance in its facade (16th century), but with a Gothic-style church. It has an impressive Plateresque facade, a beautiful Renaissance cloister, a church with ribbed vaults, and the Museum of León inside, functioning today as a Parador Nacional.

  2. The place that I select is the cathedral of León, in the Regla Square. It was built between the 1205-1302 in gothic art, because It has stained-glass windows, pinnacle, crossed vault and other características.
I selected this because is a very beautiful building in León and a perfect example of gothic art.

  3. The Basilica of San Isidoro de León seems to me to be one of the most important medieval monuments in the city. I chose it for its historical value, for the Royal Pantheon, which I found very interesting. It is also known as the “Sistine Chapel of Romanesque art.”
Its construction began at the beginning of the 11th century and was expanded during the 11th and 12th centuries, at which time it acquired its definitive Romanesque form. It is located in Plaza de San Isidoro, in the city of León, next to the ancient Roman wall.
The predominant artistic style is Romanesque, although it also features some later Gothic elements. Its main characteristics are: a three-nave floor plan, thick walls, semicircular arches, carved capitals, and barrel vaults.
