4º - Challenge 7

Hi there!

We are almost ending the Industrial revolution in class... so here is the last related challenge!

During the second industrial revolution many inventions appeared... but we are focusing in this one in the picture.

Task: make a research about it, and make a brief report telling us something about the invention and also the role of women during this process...!

  1. The first car was the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, created by Karl Benz in 1886. It was a motorized tricycle.

The most important woman was Bertha Benz, Karl's wife. She made the first long car trip in 1888 without telling her husband.

She proved the car worked well for long-distance travel. She fixed problems on the road and got gasoline from pharmacies.

Her trip was super important because it convinced people the car was useful. Women, by starting to drive it, also helped make it popular.
